Abstract:
Would you like to know how fuzzy systems are contributing to the emergent and multidisciplinary research field of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (Explainable AI or just XAI for short)?

We will have the chairs of the IEEE-CIS Task Force on Explainable Fuzzy Systems telling you all about how to pave the way from interpretable fuzzy systems toward XAI systems.

During this webinar, we will explore the following topics:
-Introduction to the IEEE-CIS Task Force on Explainable Fuzzy Systems (Jose M. Alonso)
-Revisiting Principles, Definitions and Approaches for XAI (Corrado Mencar)
-An overview of Fuzzy Technology for XAI (Jose M. Alonso)
-Critical Considerations and Open Challenges (Corrado Mencar)

Biography:
Jose M. Alonso is a “Ramón y Cajal” Researcher (RYC-2016-19802) in the Research Centre in Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS) at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. He is the chair of the IEEE-CIS Task Force on Explainable Fuzzy Systems. In addition, he is Associate Editor of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine. He is also the President of the Executive Board and Deputy Coordinator of the H2020-MSCA-ITN-2019 (Grant Agreement No 860621) project entitled “Interactive Natural Language Technology for Explainable Artificial Intelligence” (NL4XAI).
Corrado Mencar is Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy. He is vice-chair of the IEEE-CIS Task Force on Explainable Fuzzy Systems and Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems. He is co-author, together with J. M. Alonso, C. Castiello and L. Magdalena, of the book “Explainable Fuzzy Systems: Paving the Way from Interpretable Fuzzy Systems to Explainable AI Systems” (Springer, 2021).
